Two fast 10Ks and an Off-Road Half
Three quick 10K times to report from our elite boys. John F and Alan ran 37:20 and 38:47 at the Hatfield Broad Oak 10K but were outgunned by Noel C's 34:44 for 28th place in a high-class international field at the London 10,000. Superb, all.
Meanwhile, over the ups, downs, ins and outs of the Brandon Forest Half, Kim was fourth female and, like Diana, also second in her category.

Tour of the Derwent Valley 2009
It's all over for another year, and those hills have been conquered again. Full results have been posted from the races at Duffield, Wirksworth, Milford and Rowsley. We were down on the usual complement, partly because of a spate of injuries, but four managed the whole lot to earn the famous(?) T-shirt - see the Rowsley results for overall placings - and the ten others managed up to three of them, physical condition and/or logistics permitting! On the men's side, Glyn took the main honours, finishing highest C&C on the overall rankings and first Vet 60, taking a first-C&C at Duffield on the way. Adam (at Milford and Rowsley) and John K (at Wirksworth) led us in at the other races. Women's champ was Carmel, first C&C female over the monster hill at Rowsley, whilst first-timer Amy starred at Wirksworth and Milford. Rachel was the first of our girls home at Duffield (never mind the black vest!), deserved reward for her epic organisation efforts - many thanks, Rachel. A cracking weekend with superb weather.
There is a high likelihood of photos, which will appear at this link (photographers - contact me if you'd like help with uploading).

Katie's Marathon Double
Just when we thought Ultra Katie had switched focus to the short stuff, news in of her 3:36 at the White Peak Marathon in Derbyshire, followed the next day by a 3:53 at the Windermere Marathon up in the Lakes. Crikey!

East Cambs (Soham) Half
Results have arrived from the East Cambs Half, where a bunch of us got rained on, sun-tanned, blown about and generally had fun as you can see from TJ's photos. Karin was second female and Jalanie fourth (and first V35) - congratulations!
•
Tri Club 5K
Results are in from Thursday evening's 5K at Impington. First female was George S whilst Alan P headed our challenge in the men's race with fourth place.

Elsewhere...
Elsewhere, there was a successful triathlon debut for Phil A at Stratford-upon-Avon. Also in, limited news the Sawston Fun Run, where it was a double victory for C&C's younger stars Will Mycroft and George Schwiening. Andrea won her category, whilst Alex was second in his. Well done all. Finally, Phil S turned in a handy 1:44 at the Hinckley Half.

Halstead & Essex Marathon and Ultra
The Halstead Marathon always brings out the sun to roast the competitors, but it didn't deter Giacomo, Kim, Joe and Simon R. Particularly congratulations to Kim, who took second place in 3:10, but the rest all starred too. Well done to rehabbing Giacomo for a 3:09, to Joe for exorcising his 4-hour jinx and to Simon for his characteristic refusal to see 26.2 miles as 'enough' (he ran the 30-mile Ultra option - see Ultra pics).

Eye 10K
A very good, sunny morning for C&C at the Eye 10K, where a squad of seventeen wore the famous vest. We picked up third place in both the men's and women's events, thanks to Noel C (34:49) and Jemma Clarry (41:23), and recorded a range of impressive times (along with some valiant struggles) including top-tens from Alan and Emma. Simon B won the V55 category, Glyn was third in the next one up and Diana was second female V55 - congratulations to them. Our female team was pipped for first place by just one point, and our male team were joint second. Very impressive, everyone. There are some pics up from our support & coaching crew, Caz and James (thanks both).
This was the first race in the 2009 Grand Prix Series - as last year, it's the best four performances from nine races that count, and we all have Noel and Jemma to chase, plus defending age/gender adjusted champ Simon, at the first 5K League fixture at Saffron Walden on the 4th of June.

Bank Holiday Racing
There's more info yet to come in, but we have news from a couple of far-flung races. Well done Matt W on a rapid 38:13 at the Langtoft 10K. Well done too to Al, Caz and the fastest bump in the Midlands at the Coventry Godiva Harriers May Day 5, Al taking 15th in 28:36 and Caz bowing out for a while with a 39:12. Also on Monday, Giulio led our challenge at the Ashdon 10K+, while Seth Kennard was second in the 3K (I'd appreciate help with identifying other junior C&Cs in that race).

Grand East Anglian 10K
We certainly had the first team out for the Grand East Anglian 10K on Saturday. Out of 1500 finishers in this EA East Grand Prix race, we took sixth (Mike Salt), seventh (Noel C), ninth (Geoff) and eleventh (Ben B). Unsurprisingly, those four took the men's team prize. Phenomenal running, chaps. There were also some strong performances lower down, including Karine's nineteenth in the women's race. Grand to see.
