Who is the Kevin Henry bloke anyway? More to the point don't forget its the testing course at Saffron Walden on Thursday night, we need another big C&C turnout to keep up with Cambs Tri Club. This ones well worth the jouney with a nice finish just past Audley End ;-)
If you need a number just turn up on the night.

Hatfield Broad Oak 10K
We had a strong squad at the Hatfield Broad Oak 10K, and happily came home with a couple of prizes. Congratulations to Charlie Wartnaby, who was first Vet in a strong (and big!) field, running a speedy 34:24, and to Katie Sherwood, who was third female in 40:13. Excellent performances elsewhere, with Al Pritchard 25th in 36:15, John Oakes 32nd in 37:05, Caz Prichard 10th female in 41:38, Neil Carrington running a sub-40, a road debut (I think!) for Thomas Brennand, 49:44, and Diana Braverman 57:11. Well done, team.

•
Grand Prix
No one has commented on the absence of this year's Grand Prix, but I've picked out some races for this year anyway. No changes to the system. Have a look, and if there are obvious problems or omissions, let me know.

Friday 5 Series
Dave Edwards and Paul Dewison flew the flag for us admirably at Ipswich in the first of this popular Suffolk-centred series. More to come at Kirton, Stowmarket, Bury St Eds and Great Bentley. Have a go - I mean, it's not like you'll be in the pub on a Friday evening...

Cambridge parkrun
Latest C&C winner at the parkrun: well done Jemma Clarry!
•
Eyam Half Marathon
Slightly old news from the Eyam Half (sorry John!): John Kazer took on this scenic but notoriously tough race (even the locals concede it's a bit bumpy) and came away with an outstanding 20th place. Nice one, John!
•
White Peak Marathon
Yet another sub-4 marathon to report from Simon Redfern, this time at the White Peak event in Derbyshire. Perhaps I could save myself some time by only posting news when he doesn't do one...? Impressive stuff again, Simon.

New York News
Hooray for Carmel - first place in the American Society of Hypertension 10K in Central Park.

Cambridge Beer Festival
As the beer festival starts on Monday evening, what better way to spend the evening of Wednesday 25th May with other C & C runners, beer and cider (yes, they sell cider for those non beer drinkers) lovers from 7pm, most probably in the queue on Jesus Green. There's no need to reply to this so simply turn up and enjoy...

For those that are wondering 'wheres the update on the Kevin Henry league?' you can see the league tables here:
http://www.saffronstriders.org.uk/insite.htm
The team as a whole are joint with Cambs Tri. The womens team kicked some ass, so the men have some catching up to do. Great turn out though, more for the next event though, its the hills of Saffron Walden!

Tri Club 5K Results
It's early days for the 2K Kevin Henry League junior race, so we only had one C&C entrant (more next time, no doubt), but what a great performance - congratulations to Cambourne champ Finn Barnes on a spectacular race win!
Senior results are now up too.

Kevin Henry 5km Impington 5km
A couple of the pictures from the race...sorry I didn't get everyone and eventually I had to give up on the captions too....feel free to add your own. Great running everyone, what a fantastic turnout !!!!
•
Eye 10K
The Eye 10K is usually packed with C&C vests, but for some reason we only mustered three this year. Never mind though, because the performances were high-class. Madeline Boardman clocked 39:48 to take third place in the female race, John Uff's 37:54 was a bit shy of his best running lately, but still classy, and Diana Braverman ran 52:52 to take another first place in the V55s. Good going, everyone.
•
Fen Drayton 10K
The resurrected Fen Drayton 10K follows the footpaths, lanes and, um, guided busways of the RSPB nature reserve, with some gorgeous scenery but some rough going too. Our team, Carla Brown, Alan Baldock, Caroline Archer and Deborah Carter, took on the challenge in style, with Carla finishing third female, coach Alan practising what he preaches to take first M60, and Caroline and Deb close behind. Well done all!

Marathon News
It may be warm out there, but the marathon season continues, and C&Cs turned in some belting performances at the weekend. Starting with the Prague Marathon, Christof Schwiening turned in a stunning marathon debut, clocking 3:29. Closer to home, we had another debut, Kris Semple's, at the Shakespeare Marathon at Stratford-upon-Avon, where all went beautifully as Kris finished in 3:54. However, the quickest time of the day was recorded by very-definitely-non-debutant Dave Edwards, also at the Shakespeare; a cracking 3:17. Congratulations, chaps - looking forward to hearing all the details.
Finally, an update from our correspondent at the Halstead Marathon:
The only way is Essex? Simon R completed his ninth marathon (so far) of 2011 and flew the C&C flag at Halstead scraping a sub-4 once more. His lazy finish can be witnessed 54 seconds into this video of someone else's efforts...

•
Grand East Anglia Run 10K
Mike Salt continues his rather impressive recent form with what looks like a PB at the GEAR 10K, another windy day but salty blasted a rather quick 33.25 beating John Herbert into 9th place in this impressive field. Good work Mike! Looking good for the KH league races :-)

Breckland 10k
A throng of C&C athletes made the trip over to the little village of Croxton, just north of Thetford for the Breckland 10k today. Some very strong performances saw our athletes return with a hoard of trophies. John Oakes continues to astound, by blasting his way to 3rd place in the race overall, in a PB time of 34:50, which is another 90% WAVA performance - one which ultimately bagged him the 1st MV50 trophy too. Katie Sherwood followed suit with 3rd place for the senior ladies, in a very rapid time of 40:09. And finally, C&C also claimed the team prize, with sterling performances from John Oakes, Alan Pritchard (18th in 36:44) and John Uff (19th in 36:54). Well done to all those who ran! Results are now online, and a few snaps too.
