Ryston XC Grand Prix Race 1
Sunday 11th October 2015
charlie
A delightful day in Shouldham Warren for the opening of the Ryston Grand Prix, and the blue and white shone strongly in the forest-dappled sunlight. In the busy junior events, Ruby Buchan finished well, and Ollie Parmenter won silver for U13 boys. It was the senior’s day, however, with silver for V40s Andrew Parmenter, bronze for V50 Ryston maestro David Pettit, gold and bronze for V60s Charlie Ritchie and Mike Brentnall, and a silver in V40 ladies for Ryston ‘debutante’ Emma Buckland. Strong running all round actually, with Gerald Meah just outside the V55 medals, Glyn Smith showing them how it is done at the top end of his category, and Chris Hurcombe and Rachel Leah clearly illustrating the famous pine needle effect. And special mention for a blitzing V40 first run for ‘triallist’ Justin, which doubled the medal count in the Buckland household. A particularly sunny Sunday’s running, and in a crowded XC calendar it really is worth saving at least one for the unique Ryston experience.
