ERRA 12 & 6 Stage Road Relay Championships
Saturday 5th April 2014
David Barber

If I can be so bold as to forward a report from our captain, Ric Park:

C&C descended on Sutton Park, Birmingham for the Annual Men's 12 stage, Women's 6 Stage event. The course had been shortened slightly for health and safety reasons. Which meant the Long Legs for the men 5.08m and short legs and women's legs 2.69 miles. Sutton Park is notoriously difficult to get the pacing right and some of our early runners thought their times were a little slow but as the day progressed it became clear they had had very good legs. We finished 34th in the Women's event 29th the year before and 43rd in the men's an improvement from 52nd the previous year.

I think everyone who crossed the line thought they could have gone quicker or paced it slightly differently but the legs were run with no lack of effort or commitment which was showed on the pain etched across everyone's faces and the spit dribbling from their chins. That is what is great about these relays everyone giving 100% for their teammates and not wanting to let anyone down.

I look forward to the autumn relays when we can all get together again to compete against the rest of the country.
