Rotary Shakespeare Marathon
Sunday 28th April 2013
BethJ
A solid and enjoyable marathon organised in clockwork fashion and loads of support. In fact the only unpredictability came from the odd driver showing us their new moves in an attempt to get past the strange lolloping bipeds faster-always an attention grabber.
There was quite a merry throng to start because the half and full set off together and went on a little jaunt around Stratford's centre roads which aren't very roomy but it was chilly so we could share heat and we were soon out on the main roads anyway. It was 'predominantly flat' in the words of Thems from Other Regions which meant only 4 or 5 hills (but not really huge), a few miles of undulations through and between villages and then probably a total of 7 or 8 miles on a really pleasurable flat gritty track thing they call the Greenway. I don't know why but I loved those bits ... and not 'cos they were easy ... honest!
And I got a PB of 4:28 so that's OK.
