In Storeys Field, where feet take flight,
Amidst the dawn’s soft, golden light,
Parkrunners gather, spirits bright,
In joyous stride, their hearts ignite.
Each step a beat, a rhythm true,
Through meadows green, with skies so blue,
Community woven, old and new,
In Storeys Field, dreams pursue.
From start to end, a winding trail,
Where tales of triumph, never frail,
In every pace, a whispered tale,
Of strength and hope that will prevail.
With every breath, they dare to soar,
In Storeys Field, forevermore,
A testament to what’s in store,
Parkrunners’ spirit to adore.

‘Twas in the year of Twenty Twenty-One,
When everything, everywhere seemed dead and gone,
That, happily, in July of that year, things all restarted,
And Storeys Field parkrun, not to be outsmarted,
Inauguralised itself, and began its existence,
Giving excitement plus exercise to all its participants.
So I said to Nick, “You know, YOU could go and give it a try -
It’s ever so friendly; marshals cheer as you fly by.
You need to get out; your body and mind need to mend.
So-o-o, what do you think of that, my friend?”
He still looked doubtful, so I went on, “See, Nick,
When you go past the Sainsbury’s sign so sce-nic,
Approaching the Activity Pavilion, all niche and chic,
This parkrun includes such motivational music,
Emanating from more early morning risers called MittFit.
You get a blast each lap of 3; it’ll make you skip along quick.
And all this without mench of the witty, erudite RDs’ schtick-
All of them definitely, almost certainly, nearly, unique!”
Since it started back then, it’s been a smash hit,
And even ol’ Nick has become quite fit.
This parkrun has a numerical PB of Six Forty-Eight,
(Correct, I believe, up to event One Three Zero.)
And who knows its future; what will be its fate?
Where will the start end up, the place they say,”GO!”
And how many finish funnels may there need to be -
(How they even work, I’d like explained to me.)
Whatever’s in store at Storeys, it’s been a great success,
And none of us would willingly settle for less!
(After the Great McGonagall.)
