Frostbite #2 Sunday 5th November
Just a reminder that it's the second Frostbite race on Sunday 5th November at Nene Park, Peterborough. The junior race starts at 10:15am and the senior 11am, and there will be some people leaving from the track. Probably best to post on the Endurance Runners section on Facebook for lift requests. All welcome, just bring your club vest and wear trail shoes. After a fantastic turnout at the first race we are leading the league, so will be great if we can as many out as possible again. It is a great 5 miler around Nene Park. See you there!

Birmingham International Marathon
Four C&Cers made it to the start line of the Birmingham Marathon – the first time the event had been staged since 1989. Despite being small in number, we made our presence felt. The course was hilly but this didn’t stop some outstanding performances being recorded. Thankfully the predicted unseasonally warm weather failed to materialise until after we’d all finished. The race started in light drizzle with overcast skies – YES.
Huge congratulations to Sophie Kelly who romped it winning the women’s race in a pb time of 2.52.08. Awesome Sophie, just awesome. Next up was Sarah Wightman who claimed a well-deserved age category win in a time of 3.13.22.
Ben Meadows ran a storming race, narrowly missing a sub-3 despite running a 10 minute pb – 3.01.35. That sub-3 will surely come on a flatter course. I had a good run, taking 5 minutes off my pb time finishing second in my age category in a time of 2.54.15.
The race was well organised and the crowd support excellent. It’s a challenging course but certainly a marathon worth considering.

Perkins Great Eastern Run
Late breaking news from the Perkins Great Eastern Run in Peterborough; George Schwiening won the women's race in an outstanding 1:15:26. A spectacular performance against a field of the strongest runners in the region. Huge congratulations, George. Hats off to Matt Slater too, 15th place in 1:13:55.
Lots of other C&Cs too, and some particularly good category performances; Mary Twitchett was notable, winning the F55s, and finishing fourth vet overall. The results system makes it hard to figure category and gender placings out, but have a good browse, and well done all.
