Essex League Cross-Country
First one this Saturday at Basildon - more below, copied from Ric Park's mailing list email.
I block Facebook, so if anyone less paranoid than me has news of dates, venues results etc this season, I'd be very grateful to have them to pass on.
Good afternoon all
This Saturday is round 1 of the Essex XC League in which we are members. The venue for this is One Tree Hill - Basildon SS17 9NH
It is a great event and suitable for all runners, all you need is your xc spikes/ studded shoes or as it hasn't been raining much you might get away with your trainers and of course your C&C vest. No need to register just turn up stand on the start line and run. At the end you will get a token with your finishing position which are collected together with those from the rest of the club and handed in.
U11 race boys and girls 10:00 (£2 entry paid on the day)
U13 race boys and girls 10:30
U15 race boys and girls 11:00
U17/U20 women 11:30
U17 boys and senior women 12:00
Senior men 12:45
All details can be found on the Essex Cross Country League facebook group or any questions please email me

Cheers

Testing HOKA ONE ONE trainers
On Tuesday 11th October, the guys from Advance Performance, including Garry Hill are coming to the track at 6 pm with a whole bunch of HOKA ONE ONE trainers for us to test. These are a neutral, but cushioned road shoe, not dissimilar to the vibe that On Cloud are doing. If you would like to trial a pair for the evening, just get to the track earlier than normal (they will be there from 6) and meet with Garry and see how they feel. There is more information here

News?
Just a word of apology for the poor news service at the moment. A very busy time. Please do contribute your own items if you can, and the results page will be at full steam (thanks to all the contributors), so keep checking that out for the latest so you don't miss out on special stuff like Dan Hurst's magnificent 2:42 PB at the Chester Marathon, the C&C PB gang in Glasgow and the amazing raid on the Berlin marathon, where Axel Finke PB-ed in 2:39, Andrew Shields ran 2:46 and all the rest - Nick Osborn (2:48), Rodrigo Santos (2:53), Steve Cresswell (3:24) and Caroline Archer (3:47) - ran lifetime bests too.
Not to mention the epic contest for who can do the most exotic parkrun.

Frostbite League - St Neots
The Frostbite League season kicked off at St Neots on Sunday, with, well, mixed fortunes. The senior team finished last on the day, which is a novel experience we won't be repeating, but nonetheless plenty of fine runs were put in. Possibly not perceived as a priority for some of the faster runners? Who knows. At the front of the race, quickest in white and blue were John Ferguson (24th male) and Ellie Swire (seventh female), with gallant support from the rest of the dirty dozen (well, Priory Park is essentially cross-country, and despite the dry conditions I won't get a better chance to use that one). The juniors had more success, finishing an excellent fifth of 15, which is a brilliant result - special congrats to Isaac, Miles, Ryan, Frances and Emma for general superbness. Maybe dark horses for the title this year? Anyway, well done everyone who ran, and a particular thank-you to Adam Poole and Alan Baldock for their usual dedication, organisation and encouragement.
