Norwich Half
Somehow the Norwich Half Marathon stayed above high tide at the weekend, and a wind-blown fivesome from these parts took full advantage. Top marks to Graham Anderson, whose 1:22 earned him an impressive 19th place overall in a field of 2000-plus. Cracking performances too from Simon King (1:34), Robert Conquest (1:41), Andrew Firth (1:42) and C&C-debutante Catherine Hames (1:59).

We are the (gold) champions...
Sorry to bust in again but according to this page our women's team were *the* UK half marathon champions for 2012 in the GER; take a bow Katie, Sarah & Caz! ("Not sure what colour" indeed :-)

Ashwell Multi-Terrain Half Marathon
Luckily all the quickies were fighting it out at St Neots so I was able to grab a win at the inaugural Ashwell Half. Wonderfully organised with loads of marshals and great scenery. A word of warning though. Be prepared for 2.5 miles of off road and 1500ft of elevation change. Your quads and hamstrings will feel it! Also I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me from C and C. You have all been very kind.

Leeds Abbey Dash 10k
Thought I'd just give this race a quick mention, as I enjoyed it so much! It's 9,000 runners strong, fast, furious and fairly flat. It's listed as a Runner's World readers' top 10 favourite, because it's great for bagging a PB. It attracts some superb elite runners - sub-30 men and sub-33 women... and as it's a there-and-back route you have the privilege of seeing them streaking past on their home leg! Maybe one for the diary if you fancy a trip up north next year... (though evidently a lot of C&Cers were out exercising super-powers in St Neots! Well done - awesome :) !)

St Neot's Half Marathon Clean Sweep
A clean sweep for C&C. 1st Man, 1st Woman, 1st Women's Team, 1st Men's Team, 1st Frostbite Team. Congratulations to all who took part and hope you all enjoyed yourselves on a glorious Autumn day. I'm sure that somebody who actually ran will be able to provide a comprehensive report. Apologies to anyone I may have startled as I shouted at them when I cycled past!

We are the (bronze) champions...
An unexpected postscript from the Great Eastern Run -- I took delivery this morning of four hefty UK Athletics bronze medals, as we were 3rd men's team in what was it seems the 2012 UK HM championship race...

Istanbul Marathon and 15k
My first time in Istanbul at the weekend with a few friends from my local running club, one of whom was Dave Edwards. Most of them were there to do the marathon, but it was the 15k option for me. Unfortunately my ankle is still giving me problems so I wasn't able to race it as I would have liked, but it was still a memorable experience. Istanbul makes London seem like a quiet country village, an incredible place. Highly recommend to anyone who liked to do something a bit more adventurous.

Essex Cross Country League
If you fancy some off road running this weekend then please join us on Saturday at Hylands Park, Chelmsford. Full details here. Cross country is a team sport. It's finishing that counts. Leave your Garmin at home and enjoy the challenge of simply getting from the start to the finish line.

Frostbite League, Race 2, Bushfield
The weather was no better at Bushfield this morning than anywhere else nearby. A strong C&C contingent splashed round the five miles of Bushfield's Frostbite flat and fast course. Kye Liddle was first C&C over the line in third place, closely followed by Sullivan Smith. Al Pritchard and Ben Baldelli stormed over the line in tenth and eleventh. Alistair Hodges, John Ferguson and John Oakes took took C&C's final scoring positions.
John Oakes was running his first race since injuring his ankle at a recent training session and it was good to see him putting in such a strong performance. He told Chris Hurcomb that it was strange to be racing on fresh legs.
John Morley, Daniel Hurst - a Frostbite dubutant - and Andy Whittle all looked bedraggled as they crossed the line. John Evans, Adam Poole and Paul Rudin ran strongly in the woeful conditions. Glyn Smith proved that age is no barrier to putting in a competitive performance.
Caz Pritchard was our first lady and third lady over the line with Carla Brown not far behind. Clare Garvey made her Frostbite debut fresh from her Amsterdam triumph and Jen Richardson cut up a PB in conditions which merited a wetsuit and flippers.
You should note that Andy and Carla turned out having been at the Hell Up North race near Chester yesterday. That's dedication to the Blue and Whites - mud on Saturday and freezing rain on Sunday. Well done to them and everyone else who took to the course.

Lode Half Marathon
A low-key village race in foul weather, but well marshalled and staffed by a friendly bunch, the Lode HM was a good local option for anyone having to be back in time to lunch with in-laws on a Frostbite day ;-). And we had a C&C double with George and myself earning winning trophies (I even endured the looong wait to pick mine up!) and Jon maybe PB'ing? The results don't list clubs (and are listed in race number order...) so do edit them to add yourself if you're missing.
