The flow goes on the Flo Mo...
Seems the Fergwellshield marathon bus stopped in Florence last weekend. All 3 ran very nicely, Fergie top honours in 3:04:53, (although this time he didn't have a pacer like at London!) Simon B ran 3:07:46 and Andrew S ran 3:11:25.

Also sneaking under the radar was Andrea Hill in 3:20:25.

Great work all!

Christmas Party Fri 9 Dec
Last call for tickets for the Christmas Party.  You can buy a ticket (for a mere £12, cash or cheque payable to 'Cambridge & Coleridge AC') from John Ferguson, Caz Pritchard or Carla Brown at Training on Tuesday 29 November. But be quick as we have to confirm numbers to the venue by this Friday 2 Dec. Entertainment includes a themed quiz, raffle, tonnes of delicious food, the ballot for the C&C entries to the London Marathon* and road running presentations – what more could you ask for?!

*To be eligible you must have been rejected in the VLM ballot and have been a member of C&C at the time you entered the Virgin London Marathon ballot.  Contact Andrew if you would like your name included in the draw.

Photos
Don't forget to take a look at this weekend's photos - Neil C and John O have uploaded their Hereward pics (anyone got more?), and I've added my Riverside Half pics to Alan B's.

Hereward cont....
To echo what fellow skipper said....C&C had a sound presence out there in the depths of the fens today - & we all managed to come out in one piece too! A blustery and muddy run was had by most (some more than others) along the way from Peterborough to Ely. The stars of the day were by far the super speedy guys who managed to smash it into 2nd place!!! Well done to everyone and massive thanks to those that drove, especially Rich and Jonathan's mum for taxi-ing. An ULTRA big mention must go to Dave who made his way round the 38 miler single handedly - you deserve a beer (or 6!) now....enjoy!

Hereward Relay Early News
Some news before full results are publish. Men's teams finished 2nd (and came very close to winning the event), 9th and 10th, with some very exciting inter-club battles. The girls team finished 3rd, other news on the mixed teams and the vets as we get itto follow with a better write up and images later...but a very successful and enjoyable day for C&C! Great work by all runners but special thanks have to go to Carla for organising 6 teams!

City of Norwich Half Marathon
Results just in from the City of Norwich half marathon... star performer was Duncan Coombs, with a stunning HM debut (AFAIK) of 75:45 despite the cruel headwind stretch on each lap, and a cash prize for his 9th place. Morag Macniven was well up in the rankings too with a sterling 18th place in a total field of well over 2000. I (Charlie) was glad just to be back racing after a couple of months on the injury bench, though a bit miffed to miss 80 mins by 2 sec despite shamelessly slipstreaming the leading woman. I didn't see you others, but do chip in with your stories (and tick those PB boxes in the results if appropriate).

Lost Ventolin?
Did anyone lose a small Ventolin inhaler at training on Tuesday? I seem to have picked one up inadvertently and brought it home. Julian Hardyman

Last call for the South of England Cross Country Championships
If you'd like to run this event in Brighton, on Saturday 28th January, please get in contact with Helen by Friday.

No need to be selected. Open to all club members. An ideal opportunity to support our up and coming junior teams and watch some of the fastest runners in the region in action.

More details of this event and the other cross country championships can be found here.

The more the merrier.

Les Marathons de France
News of an superb marathon début by Istvan Jacso in the Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes, also known as the French Riviera Marathon - a 2:57. Awesome to break 3 on a first attempt - congratulations Istvan! Keeping it French, Simon Redfern chose the Marathon du Beaujolais for his latest exploit (wonder why...?), clocking a very handy 3:48. Well done both.

10K, ok :-)
A little birdy informs me that although whilst awaiting the 'official results' I'd like to post my fellow captains rather glorious time at the Chelmsford 10K. 39.35 to be exact (time sponsored by timex no less). All I can say is good work Carla, all that hard work has paid off!

Hadleigh 10
Team Carrwood travelled to Suffolk for this 10miler. The Hadleigh Hares had described it as undulating. What was pretty much 5m uphill to kick off with, to us flatland dwellers, seemed rather hilly?! So a good challenge. Neil played pick off the Ipswich Jaffas until he ran out of them (or rather out ran them) to finish in a stonking 63minutes. I came in 4th lady in 68 minutes so a good day out had by all. A really friendly well organised race and a nice Hadleigh Hares towel to take home!

Cheap running shoes
Caz has 2 pairs of hardly worn ladies trainers as my gait has dramatically changed, and I've been running in completely the wrong shoes for me! Adidas Sequence 3 in pink and white and Asics 1150 in red and white, both size 7. Both done about 10-20 miles and bought in the last month. £25 each. Give me a shout if you are interested!

South of England Cross Country Championships
If you would like to run in this event on Saturday 28th January in Brighton, please submit an entry request form to Helen (by email or post) by Friday 25th November. Senior men 15K, senior women 8K and a full programme of junior events. If you are thinking of having a go at the Nationals - this would give you a good introduction as to what to expect.

Please note it is important that you include your England Athletics Competition License No. (URN). This is the number found on the bottom right hand corner of the plastic white card which you should have received when you joined the club. If you don't have a card I suggest you ask Neil Costello who currently handles membership.

If we get a good turn out we may be able to arrange a bus.

More details here.

Thanks

St Neots Half Marathon
Hi All

A message for anyone who is doing the St Neots Half at the weekend. The person who does my massages for me will be there and is giving out vouchers for £25 per massgae. Well recommended and she comes to your home to do them. She will be at the finish line and will be wearing a Pink jumper - look out for her and get a bargain massage for whenever you like.

Or if you are not doing the St Neots Half but would like her details just ask am happy to pass on.

Cambridge Cambourne 10k
Entries are now open for the club's 10k. It raises money for the club and we'll need lots of help to marshal etc.. It fills up quickly so if you want to run, make sure you get your entry in, in the next two or three weeks. http://register.cambridgefestivalofrunning.com/

Cambridge parkrun
A strong group of 25 runners from C&C turned out for the Cambridge parkrun on Saturday. A bit slippery in parts but a great morning for a quick 5K. Well done all - a fair few PBs too I hear! Post any other results if you managed to tackle another parkrun outside of Cambs...

Stebbing 10
A short trip down to The Stebbing 10 today, held on a nice, but undulating country lane course. I had a solid run, and after a steady start worked my way through the field to finish 5th in 59:27, and for a change I was given the prize for 1st V40 as I finished ahead of all the V40’s and the V50 prize went to someone else.

Cambridge Fun Run
There is a Children In Need Relay Event next Friday, Cambridge Science Park, 11:55AM. Its a 4x1.1 mile relay around the Science Park and I'm keen to run this. Tracey P is in, but we need (2) extras for a team, either mixed (2 x boys) or female. Or if anyone needs extras for an existing team or if anyone wants to make a team with me and TP, give me a shout... cazwrightuk@yahoo.co.uk Its £60 per team so £15 each but for Children in Need... (I might be able to do something about discounting this) If vaguely interested, just shout!!! ta.

Ryston Grand Prix

Great East Run
After last year's horizontal sleet and hypothermia, only two C&Cs made it to the first autumn incarnation of the excellent 20K Great East Run at far-away Bungay. Tim Long's returning nicely from hammy troubles, but all I can say is don't bet on my Hereward team...

Frostbite Bushfield
Another good day for the blue and whites over at Bushfield, a massive all round team performance brought us home in top spot for both juniors and seniors, the juniors kicked off the day with some rather impressive performances as always watched and supported by Mark Vile, great work Mark.

Then the seniors *smashed* there way into top spot, over 250 points separated us from 2nd place. Sullivan Smith’s 25 min 5 mile was rather a nice way to start your career at C&C, he was backed up by Miguel and John Oakes all having rather good runs. And a big well done to Fergie who snuck in as all 7 male counters ran well inside 30 mins. It was of course the ladies as always that made the difference and we are blessed with some great ladies, Maddy then Carla and then followed in by new girl Anke.

Great work to them but really great work to the whole team.

Next race is at Hinchingbrooke Park, Hunts always a good event, see you all there!

Come to the party
Please buy your tickets for the 50th Anniversary party on 19th November in the next few days. We have to give final numbers to the venue next week. The party is subsidised by the club. For 20 pounds you get excellent food, a main course and pudding plus a glass of wine. There will be a bar and plenty of opportunity to chat, plus a ceilidh band for those who want to join in more actively. You don't have to stay until midnight if you're running in the St Neots half the next day (or any other event!) but what better way to relax before the run. Or alternatively run the Tour de Gogs on Saturday afternoon, and them chat about how hard it was at the party. Guests, partners, friends.... all welcome.

You can buy a ticket from me at Tuesday night training or send in the reply slip at http://www.cambridgeandcoleridge.org.uk/images/stories/files/return slip 50th anniversary party.pdf.
