Mersea Island 10 Miler
On a bank holiday weekend, a trip to the seaside was in order for John Oakes and Dave Edwards. John's 59:26 earned him sixth place (and, of course, first V50) in the Mersea Island 10 in coastal Essex, whilst Dave's 1:09:30 was another PB. Keep it up, guys!

Eversden 5
After a shocking week, the first ever Eversden 5 had perfect weather; just as well on a challenging multi-terrain course. First C&C was Alessandro Coianiz, who took first V40, with Giacomo Capetti sixth and third in the same class. Jordan Kennard was first under-21, whilst Giulio Cinque took the V50 prize. In the female race, Carmel McEniery took an excellent third place. Congrats all, and particular congrats to race director Ben Baldelli, deputy Simon Bowen and all the team for a cracking event.

Camping this weekend
Following the success of the camping trip a few weeks ago, a few of us are planning to give it another go this weekend (Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd August). We're planning to stay at the site at Fakenham Race Course (plenty of good running and cycling routes nearby). It's a bit short notice, but if you're interested in joining us, please let me know as soon as possible (rachel.roberts@yahoo.co.uk) and I'll add you to the booking.
Thanks!

Peterborough 5K Grand Prix - Werrington
I'll keep banging on about how good the Peterborough 5K series is until you lot start racing it. Unfortunately it was the last one of the summer, at Werrington, last night. Four of us made it, and there was more glory for Ben Baldelli, who took third place in a very handy 16:27 - well done Ben. John Jenkins' impressive comeback from injury earned him second place in the V60 category, and Carmel McEniery won the V35s. Congratulations to them. Carmel also finished third in category in the best-3-from-5 series (actually second, but a V40 somehow won the V35s!) - superb!

Kevin Henry 5K League - Haverhill
Full results and positions now in from Haverhill - well done to those who miraculously pulled it all together.
The team results are viewable via the 'read more' link below, but in summary...
In the men's race, C&C White finished sixth, C&C Blue fourth.
In the women's race, C&C White finished sixth, C&C Blue third.
Overall (on the night), C&C White finished sixth, C&C Blue fourth.
So - over the three races so far, C&C White are fourth with 27 points and C&C Blue third with 37 points, behind leaders Cambridge Tri, who have 47 points.
Got that? ;-)

Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog
Definitely one of the friendliest, most enjoyable races of the year is the Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog in Brandon Forest. Quickest C&C this year was second-placed John Oakes and quickest C&C female was birthday girl Carol Stanier. Wibbly.

Kevin Henry 5K League - Haverhill
My individual timings are now up from Haverhill, but the team result and official timings could take a long time after yet more chaos at the finish. Nevertheless, well done all, and particularly those speedy Brancos - Miguel in 3rd place and Helen first female.
•
Doug Anderson 5K
An excellent twelfth place in the Doug Anderson 5K in Bedford for Jonathan Escalante-Phillips, continuing a fine sequence of races over that distance. Good one, Jonathan.
•
Ironman UK
They say it's the ultimate test of endurance, and I'm not about to argue. So huge congratulations and three cheers for the heroics of Ish Badr and Cole Clissold at Ironman UK. Ish clocked 12 hours and 22 minutes, Cole 13 hours 34 for the gruelling 3.8km swim, 180km bike and marathon run. Awesome.

Kevin Henry 5K League - Haverhill
Don't forget this Thursday's 5K League fixture at Kedington, just outside Haverhill (I'm assuming behind the community centre in Arms Lane, CB9 7QQ - click for an approximate map), 7:30pm start. It's free, no registering, just turn up and run, though you must be a C&C member and you must wear your club vest. One important point - please take a watch and try to record your own race time to give to Adam at the finish.
There will be a meet-up at Wilberforce Road for lift-sharing, heading out at 6pm.

Camping Trip Pics
Matt has added some excellent pictures of the C&C camping trip to Stiffkey to the gallery. Enjoy!

SwissAlpine
You know when a race goes horribly wrong? And then you've still got to go 35km over two 2600-metre mountain passes? Well done to Carmel for running brilliantly and not leaving me to die (though surely tempted) in the K42 event at this year's SwissAlpine in Switzerland. Photos to come, report too, once the psychological scars have healed. Nonetheless an amazing and highly recommended event again.

Wellingborough 5
A storming performance from Ben Baldelli at the Wellingborough 5, taking fourth place and recording a stunning sub-27 time and a 85%-plus WAVA grading. Great going, Ben!
