5K League - Cambridge, this Thursday
Just a quick reminder that the next in the 5K series is this Thursday (3rd of July), and that it's our home fixture, at Wilberforce Road (7.30pm start). As ever, we need a good turnout to carry on from our superb start at Newmarket, so please do your best to make it. No entry fee, just a C&C vest needed. If you can't run, your support would be very welcome, and I'm sure Glyn could use some more marshals too - get in touch if you can help. Good luck, everyone! (note: Alan's Thursday road training is off)

Sutton Feast Beast 7
Outstanding performances from the C&C's Italian stars at the multi-terrain Sutton Feast Beast 7. Ben took the overall victory, with Giacomo in fourth place. Well done, chaps!

Swaledale Marathon
Results are finally in for the Swaledale Marathon (thanks, Ian). Well done Adam and Mandy for being the first C&Cs home. Ian's first pics are up, but the rest are on old-fashioned film, so you have to wait...

Dovedale Dash – Sunday 2 November 2008
Another C&C annual favourite is the Dovedale Dash, a race packed full of fun, water, and challenge!
http://www.dovedaledash.co.uk/ ...... and have a look at 06 & 07 photos from the C&C Photo Gallery!!!
We are just looking into booking accommodation, but it would be very useful at this stage to have an idea of the number of people interested, hence if you are thinking of going then please let either Rachel (rachel.roberts@yahoo.co.uk) or me (pg101@cam.ac.uk) know by Friday 4 July.
Just trying to gauge level of interest at this stage - usually travel to Derbyshire on the Saturday returning on Sunday.
Cheers

Abbey 10K
C&C fielded nine runners at the Abbey 10K at Ramsey on Sunday, with plenty of success, notably Mike Salt (third overall) and Ben B (eighth, second vet). Well done everyone.

More Derbyshire pics
Marcus's photos of the C&C weekend in Derbyshire are now fully up in the Gallery, with Madhuri's. That's a really superb gallery - well worth a browse. Any more pics? Get in touch.

Camping weekend
We are planning a camping weekend on 8/9/10 August (staying Fri & Sat nights). Likely destination is the North Norfolk coast. Day trippers would also be welcome! Please let either Phil or I know asap if you would like to go so that we can book a campsite.

Stortford 10K/Bury Friday 5
Congratulations to Chris F who took second place in the Stortford 10K on Sunday in a lightning 36:52. Fine runs by Tim and Beccy too. Chris and Beccy also ran well at Bury on Friday, but Chris was pipped by Geoff for C&C honours. Diana's excellent form continued, taking third place FV50.

Dartmoor Discovery
A hilly 32 miles for Simon R on Saturday at the Dartmoor Discovery. I watched telly. Great stuff, Simon.
•
World Triathlon Championships
Well done Mike S at the World Triathlon Championships in the 30-34 age group of the Sprint event in Vancouver. Thirteenth out of the water, Mike maintained his position until the run, where he gained three places to break into the top ten, just eight minutes behind the winner. Very impressive!

5K League - Newmarket
A superb evening for C&C on the Gallops at Newmarket. Official results not yet in, but the turnout was excellent (I'm guessing about thirty) and the quality was too. C&C men swept the top three places (well done Tom, Noel and Ben) and most of the top ten too, for an emphatic team victory. The women's team had a tough task against Saffron Striders' strong squad, but, led home by Karin, took joint second with the home club, and that was enough to give us overall victory on the night. Whether the huge turnout had something to do with it being the first event in the Grand Prix I don't know, but I do know all the fast people cost me a lot of points! Apologies for the delay in these results - I am checking very frequently!
Photos of the event are now in the Gallery, courtesy of Chris Ennis (thanks, Chris!).

5K League - Newmarket THIS THURSDAY, NEW VENUE
Don't forget that the 5K league starts at Newmarket this Thursday (5th June), and we need as many C&C runners as possible to turn out if we are to defend our titles (we won overall and in the men's event last year) and hopefully add the women's championship. What's more, it's the first nominated event in the C&C Grand Prix.
There will be a NEW VENUE for the Newmarket race this year apparently: the Rowley Mile car park at Newmarket racecourse - click here for a map. Turn left into Hamilton Road off the old Cambridge-Newmarket (A1304) Road. The race starts at 7:30 - get there in plenty of time for a warm-up. As ever, no entry fee - just turn up in your C&C vest and run.

Swaledale Marathon - arrangements
Ian and Helen kindly offered to accommodate those of us heading up to Yorkshire for the Swaledale Marathon in a couple of weeks' time. As there have been a number of changes to the list of who is running, they are not entirely clear who will actually be staying with them.
Please can anyone going up for the weekend, whether they're running or not, let me know when they are planning to arrive and how long they'd like to stay, so that I can confirm the details with Ian and Helen?
Also, I am aware of a couple of people who will need a lift, could people also let me know how they are planning to travel up there and whether they are able to take anyone else with them, please? I will then try to co-ordinate everything.
Thanks! (My email address is: rachel.roberts@yahoo.co.uk)

Swaledale Marathon - place available
Because of injury, I am not going to be able to do the Swaledale Marathon on Saturday 14 June. If anyone would like to take my place, please let me know. There is an official number-transfer system, so you won't have to pretend to be an Ely Runner for the day!
