April 2007

Sunday 29th April
Results now in for Ron and Diana at the Breckland 10K. And rumour has it that Glyn stole Alex's crown at the Sawston Fun Run, breaking his three-year winning sequence in the V55s, whilst C&C took the team prize, thanks to Alex, Fiona, Glyn and Gerald. No news yet from the EVAC relays or the Eastern Young Athletes league.

Track and Field 2007
Track and Field events are now up on the fixture list, courtesy of Noel's C&C Newsletter. Very little info is available on the web for most of these, so be sure to liaise with the team managers (details of managers and leagues are at the official site).

Norwich 100 cycle ride
Message from Tim:
Norwich 100 - Phil G, Cole & I are hoping to do the Norwich 100 on June 3 (that is a cycle ride, not a run!). If anyone else wants to do it, that would be great (perhaps we could enter as a team?). We will not be racing it. Further details and entry forms are available from the web site: www.bike-events.co.uk.
It is a 100 mile circular ride from Norwich, heading up to the North Norfolk coast and back. Please let me know if you are interested.

London Marathon 2007
The full results are up; if I've missed anyone, please let me know.
On a stupidly warm day (I haven't drunk so much fluid since the last Derbyshire trip), performances mostly varied between survival and blow-up, but there were still some fast times, particularly by Kim, who extended her recent fine form with a spectacular 3:02:03 for 8th in category. To single out more would be unfair - credit to all for toughing it out. The C&C support crew were out in force (nice day for it!), and their cheers were hugely welcome - thanks, all. Photos are filtering in, to be uploaded soon (first ones now up from Pietro), and expect endless tales of woe to be told at pub night.

Results from Sunday 15th May
On an unseasonably hot morning, the main event was the Flitwick 10K, where Kim took another category first place (whilst tapering for the London Marathon, no less), while Mike came in 12th overall as first C&C. Full marks too to Tim on Duathlon debut at Bottisham.

Message from Madhuri
Dear C+C runners,

Thanks to all of you who attended my 40th birthday party at Greens on Saturday night, and made it a special occasion. I hope you all enjoyed the food and the company. Thanks very much for the cards and presents - and a special thanks to Ian, Alex, Phil, John, Tim and Glyn for the "C+C Full Monty" !. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos on the website!

Best wishes

Madhuri

London Marathon: - Meeting place after the race; runners and supporters
We have in previous years met marathon runners plus friends, supporters, etc. etc at the Chandos Pub on the corner of Trafalgar Square and St Martin’s Lane? I suggest that we meet upstairs as there always seem to be seats on marathon day, and there are not too many stairs to get to the loo. It’s also near the finish line and the beer is reasonably priced, and they do food. Also not to far to the nearest tube station

Ben B's Brilliant Bungay Black Dog Half
Congratulations to Ben Baldelli on finishing runner-up at Bungay in 1:17:54, just 21 seconds behind the winner. Ben was fifth last year.

April Fools on the roads
Full results are up from this year's Oakley 20. While some C&Cs took the opportunity to grid out some marathon training miles, Kim turned in another awesome run to win the FV40 category. Joad led the chaps home in 34th place overall.

Schools and Masters Cross Country championships
English Schools and British Masters XC Championships results are now available. Excellent results from our six youngsters representing Cambridgeshire against the best in England, with Lucy D placing highest. Similar from the not-so-youngsters at the British Masters, where Diana and Sue won the team FV55 event.
