December 2006

New Year's Racing
Results now up. A very successful day for C&C at Ely, with Rosie Clarke winning the women's race and Alex and Glyn taking the men's V55 and V60 prizes. Rosie posted the fastest accurately-measured C&C women's 10K of 2006 (as far as I know), with 37:38. At the Buntingford 10 miler, Emma Kreetzer also took a 2006 record (I think!), with 1:10:42 (please correct me if you know differently in either case). Fastest male and female 10Ks of 2007 followed the next day at Wymondham........

Boxing Day race
A superb fifty-one runners completed the annual C&C Boxing Day race from Lammas Land to Trumpington and back. The winners were our U20 middle-distance star Ed Aston and Emma Patel, making a welcome return to C&C as a guest. Full results now posted (thanks, Noel!).

C&C Boxing Day race
Just a quick reminder that the annual four mile race starts at Newnham Green, by the Fen Causeway roundabout, at 11am on the 26th, parents and relatives welcome, just turn up and run - no entry fee. If you haven't already, read Peter Chaplin's excellent piece on the race's history in the Sept 2006 newsletter.

At the RR Christmas party last night, the following names were drawn out of the hat to receive the C&C club places for the London Marathon:

Congratulations to them (if that's the right word).

The Hilly clothing Co Tour of the Derwent Valley in Derbyshire 2007
Also known as the "Four Hills".
I have booked a number of rooms in the Ilam Hall Youth Hostel for the 25th 26th 27th May 2007

Individual costs are:
overnight: 17.00
evening meal: 8.40
breakfast: 4.20 Total cost 80.40

I need to provide 25% deposit by next week so if you know that you are coming if you could pay the full amount and give me a cheque (made out to the YHA) at the christmas party I would be grateful. this allows for those who have not made their mind up a few more weeks until March before full payment is due.

Many Thanks

Ian

Sunday's Frostbite and XC news
C&C seniors finished a creditable fourth at the muddy March leg of the Frostbite League, and hold on to fifth place overall. The Juniors went one better, finishing in an excellent third to move up to third place overall. Full results now up. On the down side, the clash with the Frostbite wrecked the C&C attendance at the Sunday Cross-Country League fixture.

This Sunday's races
There are two important fixtures on Sunday:

The next in the cross-country league series is at Grovelands Park, Southgate.

The next Frostbite League race is at the Young People centre in March town centre. Meet at Wilberforce Road at 9am for lift-sharing.
